CLASS DESCRIPTION
Welcome to our Wedding reception lighting class!
In order to get the most out of this course, we highly encourage that all students have a basic understanding of speed lights and have used them before. Additionally, we ask that all students be proficient in shooting manual photography, as this will be the primary mode used throughout the class.
I have had lots of requests for different ways to light up a reception or what light to start with. So I wanted to share my experiences with you and show you ways to overcome tricky wedding reception lighting.
During our time together, we will cover a variety of lighting techniques and setups. From basic one speed light on and off camera, incorporating continuous lights for details and finally how I like to set up for a reception.
To ensure that you get the most out of this class, we strongly recommend that you bring your own:
Dancing shoes (yes! dancing shoes) camera, speed light, trigger (if you have one), and modifier along with any other lighting equipment you may have or want to try. This will allow you to practice the techniques we cover in class and get immediate feedback. If you don’t have lights i’m sure we will have no problem sharing.
So come prepared to learn, experiment, and have fun with lighting! We're excited to see what you can create with your newfound knowledge and skills.
One more thing to keep in mind before we get started: during this experience, we will be using each other as our dance floor subjects to practice the lighting techniques we cover in class. This means that you may be photographed by your fellow classmates, so please come prepared to be in front of the camera as well as behind it and don’t forget those dancing shoes!!
